UNTERM is a termbase compiled over the years in response to diverse and wide-ranging demands of United Nations language staff for terminology and nomenclature.
UNTERM contains over 85,000 entries in the 6 official languages. However it is not comprehensive or complete and often does not offer clear guidance on which term should be used in which context.
The FAOTERM System is a multilingual terminology database in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Russian and Italian.
IATE (= “Inter-Active Terminology for Europe”) is the EU inter-institutional terminology database. IATE has been used in the EU institutions and agencies since summer 2004 for the collection, dissemination and shared management of EU-specific terminology. The project partners are:
- European Commission
- Parliament
- Council
- Court of Justice
- Court of Auditors
- Economic & Social Committee
- Committee of the Regions
- European Central Bank
- European Investment Bank
- Translation Centre for the Bodies of the EU
